THE STORY
Our minds are almost constantly moving.
One thought leads to another. A memory becomes a plan, a feeling becomes a story, and before we know it, we are carried along by the stream of our own thinking.
This work explores the moment when we pause within that movement.
When we stop following every thought for a moment, a small space appears — a space between one thought and the next.
In that space, we can notice what is happening rather than simply being carried by it. We can feel, observe and reconnect with ourselves.
The piece is a reminder that we are not every thought that passes through us, and that we may have more space and choice within that stream than we sometimes realise.
THE COLOURS & TEXTURES
The dark blue, heavily textured areas represent thoughts that can feel dense, fragmented or unclear — the thoughts that sometimes pull us deeper into their own movement.
The matte green represents the more familiar flow of everyday thinking. These thoughts are not necessarily negative; they are simply often present without asking for our attention.
In contrast, the light blue glossy surface represents the space that appears when we briefly step out of that stream.
Its reflective quality brings a sense of clarity and awareness — a moment in which we are no longer simply following our thoughts, but noticing them from a little more distance.
The colours and textures together reflect the movement from being carried by thought to creating space within it.

MATERIALS: Painted wood combining textured and smooth surfaces (matte paint with added sand, satin and high gloss finishes)
FRAME: Painted hardwood
HANGING SYSTEM: Each work comes ready to hang, with a metal sawtooth hanger securely attached to the back.You only need to place a screw in the wall. The small notches allow you to shift the work slightly, making it easy to hang it perfectly level.
